Agworks limited was incorporated in 1997. Initially Agworks started out growing and harvesting squash and asparagus for the Japanese market. Around this time, the viticulture industry was just taking off in Hawkes Bay and this industry gave Agworks the opportunity to develop a year round business. Currently around 85% of Agworks' work is in the viticulture industry. The work involved is both in the field and in the nursery. In the viticulture quiet times, crops such as Apples, Onions, Asparagus, and Olives supply Agworks with the ability to work all year round. Agworks currently employes around 60-70 full-time workers. To reach complete capacity on all the work that is available to Agworks, a further 100 - 130 employees are required. |
